MassHousing grant funds will help rehabilitate 19 single-room occupancy units of affordable sober housing for women at Pax House in Worcester. The grants come from the Center for Community Recovery Innovations, Inc. (CCRI), a nonprofit subsidiary corporation of MassHousing that helps nonprofits create or preserve affordable sober housing in Massachusetts for individuals in recovery.

The grants are typically used as one-time gap funding for capital projects that increase or improve the stock of affordable sober housing in Massachusetts. Other proposals that provide services for residents in MassHousing-financed rental housing, specifically those that address alcohol and/or drug abuse or addiction, are also considered for funding. CCRI grant recipients must be 501c3 non-profit organizations and matching funds must be provided.

Phase 2 Housing

We regularly inspect all member sober homes to ensure safety, quality, and the building of a community of recovery. Living in a sober environment helps you develop new habits and routines, taking what you learned during residential and outpatient rehab and applying it in your daily life. The time spent in a sober living home depends on a number of factors including strength of recovery, progress on clinical milestones set forth by your treatment plan, and the personal living situation at home. A minimum stay of three months is recommended, but many benefit from a longer stay to achieve long term recovery.

The Minnesota Association of Sober Homes, Inc., or M.A.S.H. for short, was formed in the summer of 2007 in an attempt to form a unified voice for owners of sober houses in situations where a public voice became necessary. Every additional home is $50 and every additional bed after the first 10 beds adds an additional $10.
